As you might know, we recently celebrated our fifth birthday, and we thought that was a pretty cool milestone.
Then today, we hit a much cooler milestone... since we launched Love Logs, we've planted 70,000 trees!!!
WOW!!!! We love that our little business has had this level of impact 😍
All of our tree planting is in partnership with a charity called Ripple Africa - for every single order, we make a donation that enables Ripple Africa to plant one tree, and conserve three more.
But it goes way deeper than that - we choose to work with Ripple Africa because they don't just plant trees.

They educate communities in Malawi in a range of different ways, including the importance of conservation, how to use trees as a sustainable resource, and how to cook more safely and efficiently using wood as a fuel.
Rather than take our word for it, watch this 2 minute video showing the incredible impact that Ripple Africa are having in Malawi:

What about trees in the UK?
This is a really great question!
We don't historically have a great track record with managing woodland in the UK, but thankfully we've learned from past mistakes and over the last hundred years, tree cover in the UK has doubled.
Woodland cover declined rapidly in the UK through several key periods in history - the growth of large scale farming, the start of the industrial revolution and the First World War being the most severe.
But The Forestry Commission was founded in 1919, tasked with reforestation to ensure that the timber demands of the future could be met. And this was a critical turning point in the history of UK woodland cover.
There's a saying in our industry, "A woodland that pays, is a woodland that stays", and by buying British timber products, you're part of the solution to maintaining and growing the UK's woodland cover.
Replanting in the UK is considered an essential part of the woodland management process, so when felling licenses are granted, they usually come with terms attached as part of a wider woodland management plan, which guarantees new trees are planted.
All of this is why we focus our charitable contributions with charities outside of the UK, where they have a significantly higher overall impact.
