I always say that fire cooked veggies are one of the best things about BBQing - you just can't replicate that smoky flavour or gorgeous charred texture of BBQed veg using the home oven.

Corn on the cob is one of the easiest, tastiest sides when hosting a BBQ - but so many people default to cooking it inside.

I'm going to show you to how BBQ corn on the cob in 10-15 minutes to create a perfectly charred, buttery and delicious side.

How to BBQ Corn on the Cob - the Step by Step

1. Prep the corn on the cobs by removing the husk and any scraggly bits of hair or corn silk, then giving them a good wash.

2. Get the BBQ lit. Use a chimney starter to light the charcoal, then tip the lit charcoal out into half of the BBQ to create a hot zone and a cool zone. Replace the cooking grate.

3. Place the corn on the cobs on the hot zone of the BBQ, directly above the hot charcoal and leave for 2-3 minutes.

4. Check the char on the corn on the cobs and turn them over if needed - char is a personal preference, so turn when they're perfect for you. You might have 'hot spots' on certain parts of the BBQ, so move the cobs round if necessary so they cook evenly.

5. While the other side of the corn are cooking, get some butter melted, in a cast iron pan on the BBQ.

6. Check the corn for any un-charred sections and turn them over and around as needed until there is a nice, even char all over the corn on the cobs.

7. Move the corn on the cobs to the indirect zone of the BBQ - that is, not directly above the coals - and baste all over with plenty of butter.

8. Put the lid on your BBQ and allow the corn on the cobs to cook indirect for 2-3 minutes more.

9. Open the lid, re-baste the corn on the cobs, turn them over and put the lid back on the BBQ. Allow the corn on the cobs to cook for a final 2-3 minutes.

10. Time to serve... and enjoy your buttery, crunchy corn on the cob next to some BBQed steak or chicken 🔥
